Neziri Cave

Description

Neziri is a karstic cave in an Early Cretaceous limestone formation that is located about 1 km north-west of Blazi Cave on a higher karstic level. The south oriented cave entrance is situated about 355 m above mean sea level. The front gallery behind the 11 x 5 m big cave portal is about 45 m long. First systematic research was done by Prendi & Andrea in the 1970th and 1980th who excavated an area of 80 m² with a high amount of Neolithic, Chalkolithic and Bronze Age finds. The CRC 806 B1 project started archaeological excavation in 2014 followed by a second campaign in 2015. Investigations are being proceeded currently.
